How do we support ourselves?
We're committed to helping you plan your Jerusalem travel or simply learn about our city's history and culture by providing you with a free, online resource. We do not get paid for writing the articles on this site or providing you with information.
Maintaining a website, however, costs money. So how does this website support itself?
We sell our own Jerusalem travel guide - Introduction to Jerusalem: A Guide to the Holy City - which you can download as an e-book or order as a real book. When you purchase our book, you also help the needy - we donate 10% of sales revenues to handicapped children in Jerusalem.
We have some affiliations with companies that we use ourselves and whose products or services we’re proud to recommend. (If we, or people we trust, have not used a product or service or don't believe it to be of value to our visitors, you won't find it on our site.)
When you visit this site and click on a link to one of these companies, or purchase a product from them, we earn a small commission or referral fee.
For example, the Jerusalem Insider's Guide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. So if you purchase a Jerusalem DVD or Ahava beauty products through our Jerusalem Store, which is affiliated with Amazon.com, you will be buying from Amazon, and we will receive a small percentage of the sales price.
Of course, you may choose to go to Amazon.com directly and order the product that way. You will pay exactly the same price – but we won't get a commission.
Let's assume you love the Ahava hand cream you ordered, or the hotel where you stayed last time and want to stay there again next time you come.
If you come back to Jerusalem Insider's Guide and click on our link, we will again make that small commission.
You also have a second option. You will probably have received information directly from the merchant selling the product. If you go directly to the merchant's web site, you will pay the same price, but Jerusalem Insider’s Guide will not be credited with the sale or receive any compensation.
We know it's an extra step for you to come through our site to click our link. However, we greatly appreciate your loyalty and support as we continue to bring you new articles and information about Jerusalem that we hope you'll enjoy.
Some of the companies we are affiliated with include, among others:
We also accept third-party advertisements from Google Adsense. These ads are clearly identified as such wherever they appear on the site. The words "Ads by Google" will appear below the advertisement. These ads may or may not be related to Jerusalem travel. Google chooses which ads to display – not we, so we have no control over their content.
We may occasionally also accept advertising from sponsors. If we receive a product or service for free for us to review – we will tell you that in the review. In most cases, reviews of Jerusalem travel products or services from a sponsor were written before any sponsorship relationship, or would have been written anyway, simply because we like the service or product and thought you should know about it.
Please do support our sponsors and recommendations. This site takes time, effort and money to maintain and to deliver on-going original content, for free, to you. Supporting our sponsors is a WIN-WIN-WIN for you, for us, and for them.
If you sell goods or services to tourists in Jerusalem (i.e. hotels, villas, restaurants, etc.) and you would like to know more about becoming a sponsor and advertising with us, click here to contact us.
Please note that you must have a truly exceptional product or service. We only accept a limited number of sponsorships in each category and we will not enter into any partnership with a company whose goods or services would provide visitors with a sub-par Jerusalem travel experience. If you believe you meet this criterion – we look forward to hearing from you!
