So you got some shekels to arrive with - and then need more (and more, and . . .). You realize that there are plenty of "change agents" - must be a lucrative business!

It would be more convenient to use an ATM like you do at home. . . and you can too! Most ATM's in Israel accept foreign credit cards and spout out shekel amounts that you will find listed on your credit card statement at home. The exchange rates and fees are very reasonable because the credit card companies are all competing with each other. (Check with your credit card company before leaving, it is worth the effort).

I use American Express and found out that you can even use Amex to draw money from any Post Office in Jerusalem. Now how convenient is that?

I've also found the ATM give the best rates of exchange, but if you have several cards, it's worth calling each one to see which one offers the best deal. There can be a big difference!
